چکیده

We presented two integrated solution schemes, sectional feature based strategy and surface feature based strategy, for modeling industrial components from point cloud to surfaces without using triangulation. For the sectional feature based strategy, slicing, curve feature recognition and constrained fitting are introduced. This strategy emphasizes the advanced feature architecture patterns from 2D to 3D in reverse engineering. The surface feature based strategy relies on differential geometric attributes estimation and diverse feature extraction techniques. The methods and algorithms such as attributes estimation based on 4D Shepard surface, symmetry plane extraction, quadric surface recognition and optimization, extruded and rotational surface extraction, and blend feature extraction with probability and statistic theory are proposed. The reliable threedimensional feature fabricated the valid substratum of B-rep model faultlessly. All the algorithms are implemented in RE-SOFT, a reverse engineering software developed by Zhejiang University. The proposed strategies can be used to capture the original design intention accurately and to complete the reverse modeling process conveniently. Typical industrial components are used to illustrate the validation of our feature-based

Kernel Methods in Computer-Aided Constructive Drug Design

A drug is typically a small molecule that interacts with the binding site of some target protein. Drug design involves the optimization of this interaction so that the drug effectively binds with the target protein while not binding with other proteins (an event that could produce dangerous side effects). Computational drug design involves the geometric modeling of drug molecules, with the goal...

A framework for 3D model reconstruction in reverse engineering

We present a framework for 3D model reconstruction, which has potential applications to a spectrum of engineering problems with impacts on rapid design and prototyping, shape analysis, and virtual reality. The framework, composed of four main components, provides a systematic solution to reconstruct geometric model from the surface mesh of an existing object. First, the input mesh is pre-proces...

Building Editable B-rep Models from Unorganized Point Clouds

We present a novel integrated approach to reverse engineering point clouds by producing fully editable feature-based Boundary Representation (B-rep) models. We use point cloud morphology analysis techniques to extract features from a 3D point cloud. We then reconstruct the boundary contours of features using a fast and efficient fitting approach employing a sequence of piecewise rational Bezier...

Comparative Analysis of Wavelet-based Feature Extraction for Intramuscular EMG Signal Decomposition

Background: Electromyographic (EMG) signal decomposition is the process by which an EMG signal is decomposed into its constituent motor unit potential trains (MUPTs). A major step in EMG decomposition is feature extraction in which each detected motor unit potential (MUP) is represented by a feature vector. As with any other pattern recognition system, feature extraction has a significant impac...
